Why choose Not In The Gym?
We take care of all of your personal training needs online. You can find your nearest trainer and book your FREE consultation with them.
We offer you a choice of both male and female trainers. All our trainers are highly qualified, knowledgable and insured.
What areas do you cover?
Our aim is to have male and female trainers in each UK town or City by the end of 2012.
If there isn’t a trainer in your area at the moment please check with your nearest trainer to see if they can accommodate your personal training needs. Whilst each trainer has a specific area that they cover, all of our trainers are mobile and travel to visit their clients wherever and whenever they need them..
What qualifications do your trainers have?
All of our trainers hold a level 3 personal training qualification, some even higher. This is the standard as set out by the Register of Exercise Professionals.
All of our trainers also keep themselves up to date with what's new in the fitness industry through courses of continuing professional development.
Are your personal trainers insured?
Yes. All of our trainers have at least £2 million of public liability and private indemnity insurance. We verify this before they join Not In The Gym.
Do you have both male and female trainers?
Yes, our aim is to have male and female trainers in each town in the UK by the end of 2012.
Not all towns currently do, but we’re working on it!
What does a personal training session cost?
Prices vary according to where you are located. Prices can start from £20 per session outside London, and from £35 within London itself. Most trainers offer block bookings which reduce the price you pay if you buy a block of sessions and pay in advance. Some trainers offer reduced prices for 'off-peak' sessions, and some even offer FREE taster sessions.
To discuss your requirements in further detail please contact your individual trainer.
How can I buy a personal training session?
Before you buy a personal training session you will need to have an initial consultation with a personal trainer. They are free and usually last 30 to 45 minutes and can take place in the comfort of your own home.
First please select which trainer you would like to have train you and then select ‘Book your FREE consultation’.
Fill in the short contact form and your details are then emailed to your trainer. They will contact you as soon as they can to arrange your FREE consultation. Please bear in mind that they will be busy training clients but will get back to you as soon as they can.
If after meeting with your trainer you decide to employ them, you can verify at your consultation what means of payment they accept.
What takes place during my FREE consultation?
At your initial consultation your personal trainer will carry out a full health and fitness assessment.
This can include health tests for your body weight, body fat percentage, BMI (Body Mass Index), waist and hip measurements, your blood pressure, and resting heart rate. They can also test your fitness including cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance.
Do I have to sign up for a minimum period, pay a joining fee or sign a contract?
No. You can choose to pay for sessions as and when you want them. Alternatively if you would like to save money you can purchase a block booking of sessions and pay in advance for a discount.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Your initial consultation is FREE and you then just pay for your training sessions as and when you want them.
Can I buy Not In The Gym personal training sessions as a gift for someone?
Yes, most trainers will be able to arrange this for you. Simply contact the nearest trainer in relation to the person you want to buy the gift for and they will be happy to help you organise this.
Do you offer discounts?
Sign up to our monthly newsletter for information on upcoming discounts and promotions.
Also check your trainers profile page as each trainer offers different sessions at different prices. You can also save by buying a block booking of sessions, rather than individual sessions.
Can I train with a group of friends?
Please check with your individual trainer first to see if they offer group training rates. Training with a friend or two can not only be cheaper but can also be great fun and help push each other towards your goals.
What equipment will I need to workout?
Your trainer will bring all the fitness equipment needed. You just need to wear some loose training equipment and trainers and remember to bring a bottle of water.
What equipment can I use outside of a gym?
Our personal trainers all have different qualifications and therefore use a wide variety of equipment. It will also depend on where you are training and what program your trainer has written for you.
Our trainers tend to bring equipment that is light and portable. Examples include resistance bands, dumbells, kettlebells, swiss balls, skipping ropes, boxing pads, TRX suspension systems and more. The trainer is only limited by their imagination.
What kind of training program will I have?
Your trainer will design a personalised bespoke exercise program for you after your consultation with them. They will take into account your fitness goals, medical history as well as your exercise likes and dislikes and design a program around this, taking into account your ability.
How much space do I need to train at home?
You would be surprised how little space you actually need to workout – roughly the length and width of an individual! Our trainers can also meet you in your garden, local park, beach, hotel or office. The choice is limitless.
I have a medical condition, can I exercise? Do I need to be fit to exercise with a trainer?
No. At your consultation your trainer will carry out a number of health and fitness tests. They will also ask you to fill out a past medical history and exercise questionnaire.
Taking all this into account your trainer will then design a bespoke exercise program for you. They will insure you exercise in a safe and effective manner to reach your goals. If you are unsure please consult your local GP regarding your ability to exercise. This also holds true if you are pregnant or have recently given birth.
How can I measure my progress?
As mentioned previously your initial consultation will include your trainer taking a number of different fitness assessments and health checks. These measurements can be repeated at regular intervals by your trainer throughout your training program in order to measure your progress. A typical time-frame is every 4-6 weeks.
What kind of support will my trainer offer me? Why do I need to get fit?
Exercise can help fight a variety of diseases and illnesses. It can also lead to a better quality of life, as well as prolong it.
Your trainer can offer you as much or as little support as you require. Everyone is different and everyone requires a different level of support.
With Not In The Gym your trainer is able to offer you an individual diary page. Here they can input your important benchmarks, e.g. your weight, body fat percentage, bmi (body mass index) blood pressure, heart rate, waist and hip measurements. Goals and training notes can also be updated.
Your trainer will be able to update these regularly and with your own username and password you can see and track your measurements and see if you are indeed reaching your goals. During each training session there will be the opportunity for you to discuss your progress with your trainer.
If you have any further questions please get in touch with us, we're here to help.
